Four saxophonists; myself, Murray Morrison, Claire Mcinerney, and Matthew Hope met in the Trinity College Big Band where we formed the Asterisk Saxophone Ensemble.
Not only did we enjoy each others company, we loved to play quartet repertoire, particularly in the swing style. This is still the case, and we regularly perform concerts, for functions and deliver workshops.Around that time I had the crazy idea to sing with a big band so, with the assistance of the above mentioned, I wangled some charts, pinched some phone numbers and got a gig!
It's a fantastic band with some great arrangements and an even greater future.Matthew and I collaborated to form the Jazz Cannons. We found that this was the perfect alternative to the Big Band, and consequently realized the potential for a four horn front line.
